Our films are nearly in The Space!
![]() Whoop! Whoop! Its taken a long time but we are nearly there. Very soon we will have four films online - a standard version, one with subtitles and one with audio description for each of our first four artists - Sue Austin, Rachel Gadsden, Jez Colborne and Laurence Clark. As soon as things are alive and kicking we'll send out an alert so watch out for it! Things should move a bit faster from here - we are busy filming artists and editing lots of films. This month we are introducing you to four artists from Scotland (there is one more too, coming next month) - thanks to funding from Creative Scotland. So a big thanks to Maggie Maxwell and the team up north of the border - and we hope we've done you proud! The artists this month are Claire Cunningham. Ramesh Meyyappan and Janice Parker - all working in performance, but in very, very different ways. Enjoy. Claire Cunningham presents: Ménage à Trois
![]() In a dark space - a woman make a man - out of her crutches. A beautiful study of love and loneliness this dance (called Ménage à Trois) is from award-winning performer Claire Cunningham. It explores Claire’s twenty year relationship with her crutches. Ménage à Trois is performed by Claire Cunningham, and devised and directed by Claire Cunningham and Gail Sneddon. The image here is from a great film shoot we did with Claire in the basement of Tramway in Glasgow - great venue, and a very dusty floor! Ramesh Meyyappan presents: Skewered Snails
![]() Ramesh is presenting a piece called Skewered Snails. It's a funny story of a family where everyone is very cruel. It's not a happy family! Skewered Snails is very dark - sad and funny at the same time, and its told through mime and physical theatre on a set that uses lots of ropes. Created by Ramesh Meyyappan, produced by Iron Oxide. Janice Parker presents: Private Dancer
![]() Private Dancer is dance but its also an event. It changes for every place where it is performed. The idea was from Janice Parker and the performers are never the same twice. They include disabled and non-disabled performers some of whom are trained and some of whom have never performed before. Private dancer is about the private dances that never usually get seen. Why not go and see for yourself - They might let you in....! Push Yourself![]() As we said last month, now our first four films for The Space are queued up there, with four more to come very shortly, we really need your help. Please
Thanks! Sarah Pickthall and Jo Verrent Sync |
